China wants to map the islands they played in Japan

China plans to send a team to conduct a topographical survey of the islands in the East China Sea sovereignty disputes it in Japan, reported Tuesday, March 12 state press.

The project was announced on the website of China National Radio said, citing Li Pengde, deputy director of the state administration responsible for the mapping in China. Mr. Li said that these statements over the Diaoyu Islands, which administers Tokyo as the Senkaku, will be "provided that the safety of the study team can be assured."

"DEFEND THE RIGHTS AND MARINE INTERESTS" IN CHINA

Beijing announced in mid-January its intention to conduct topographic surveys as part of a program of mapping steps "islands and reefs of the territory" and Chinese to "defend the maritime rights and interests" of China. But the official Chinese press at the time did not say whether this study imply that Chinese officials are trying to get physically on the islands.

The territorial dispute around the islands uninhabited Senkaku Diaoyu-including the surrounding seabed may contain hydrocarbons, has escalated since September after the nationalization of some of the islands of Japan. Since then, Sino-Japanese relations are bad, Beijing regularly sending its ships and aircraft around its sometimes disputed territories despite patrols of armed forces and Japanese coastguard.
