At least ten policemen were killed and eighteen injured when a suicide bomber on foot blew himself up on Saturday 26 January, in a populated area of the city of Kunduz, in the north-eastern Afghanistan, at we learned from sources.
Among the dead are two senior police officers, the chief of the anti-terrorism division leader and provincial traffic police, told AFP Enayatullah Khaleeq, spokesman for the government of the province of Kunduz, adding that " several other officers and civilians were killed and injured. " The spokesman for the provincial police, Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, confirmed this initial assessment. The explosion occurred at 17 h 20 (13 h 50 in Paris), he added.
NO CLAIM
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which by its modus operandi recalls those of the Taliban, mainly active in the south and east of the country, but also sometimes in the northeast, particularly Kunduz.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber on a bicycle was given death in Ghazni city, about 150 km south-east of Kabul, killing two people and injuring thirteen. Friday, another suicide bomber blew up his car against a NATO convoy in Kapisa, north of Kabul, killing five civilians and wounding five others.
